North West Network – 6th December
The North West network heard three varied, but current presentations – Greater Manchester Poverty Action spoke about their work with local authorities to develop anti-poverty strategies, and their recent cost of living crisis conference. Togetherall spoke about their platform, a virtual peer support space for mental health, and discussed top tips for supporting mental health currently.
Finally, Switchee spoke about how insights from their smart thermostat can be used to create long-term solutions to the cost of living crisis by supporting residents and improving the quality of homes. The links between asset management and community investment for long-term solutions to the cost of living crisis, and other challenges like climate change, are becoming increasingly evident.
Coming up: Tuesday 14th March, 1-2.30pm register here
Yorkshire and Humberside Network – 7th December
The Yorkshire and Humberside network heard from National Energy Action, who spoke about their previous fuel poverty service for housing associations and their residents. Some key components of their offer to housing associations have included a fuel poverty advice phoneline for residents, putting on events where people can get advice, fuel vouchers and warm packs. Yorkshire and Humberside network members are meeting with NEA in early February to explore the potential for collaborating with them across the region.
We also heard from Great Places about how there are using the social value from contracts to bolster their household assistance fund and hosted breakout rooms where people discussed their plans for winter and long-term solutions for the cost of living crisis.
Coming up: meeting with NEA on 2nd February, 10.30am.
Email Adam Chester if you have homes in Y&H and would like an invite.
East of England network – 8th December
After a request from the East of England network, HACT used time at the East of England network to give the network a collective showcase of our Social Value Insight tool. If you would like to arrange a showcase of Social Value Insight for your organisation, or with your network, please email Lara Phelps
The group also held a joint discussion about the progress of the Shared Prosperity Fund and discussed plans for winter and long-term solutions for the cost of living crisis.
