A new report with Mental Health Network has been published today, exploring the steps needed to achieve a more integrated and strategic approach between health, housing and social care.
Together with the NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network, HACT hosted a Mental Health and Housing Summit to explore what more can be done at the policy and practice levels to achieve a more integrated and strategic approach between health, housing and social care. You can read the recent review from Peter Molyneux, Chair of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust here.
The report, published today, outlines the key outcomes following the review from the Summit and wider stakeholder engagement, it makes recommendations for government and national bodies including:
- The urgent need for a National Supported Housing Strategy, underpinned by long term investment that enables greater confidence by housing providers and developers to better meet the appetite and demand for supported housing by the NHS,
- A clear vision and national strategy by NHS England and NHS Improvement for mental health and housing,
- and for the cross-Government Mental Health Strategy to recognise and propose action on housing, recognising how important it is for good mental health and wellbeing for the whole population.
