Why is your organisation's data so important?

A mainstay challenge across the sector, has been data quality and data integrity, with estimated 25-30% of all resources currently engaged in recording, collating, cleaning and re-keying poor data.

One of the key findings of the Hackitt Review was the ineffective creation, handing over and maintenance of vital building and fire safety information. It was two months after the Grenfell Tower fire that the housing sector were able to confirm that there were 186 other buildings across the UK clad in ACM.

Achieving improvements may be a long-term process but the Standards sets out to give housing providers, software providers and contractors principles and structure to work to, which are commonly ratified and, with adoption, can lower the cost of management of data, improve implementation of new systems and software, and reduce time of integration and delivery.

Significant resources are can be taken on searching for building information across the sector because of the lack of consistency, whether in data organisation, storage or processes.

Digitising and standardising Golden Thread information will not only result in efficiencies, reducing costs by an estimated 20% or more, they will also make building safety a reality in the future.

The way we use tech to drive our sector’s journey to net zero carbon will also be critical. Without the right data governance, data quality and data standards, technological solutions won’t work.

And, without good, assured data; you won’t know whether you’re compliant with regulations or meeting performance targets.

Digital and Data Services

The UK Housing Data Standards provide your organisation with a long term and sustainable tool to successfully embed effective data across your organisation. Our services support the development and implementation specifically for your organisation. Implementing the UKHDS is a transformational activity, and HACT’s experience, expertise and insight from developing the standards and, our experience in supporting housing associations with implementation, can help you through.

What does the data currently look like in your organisation?

Following royal accent of the Building Safety Bill becoming law, HACT recommends carrying out a two days of discovery support, for us to advise on the building safety process to date, how this has been interpreted across the sector, and making recommendations on alterations to your current architecture in preparation for the law coming into effect. This discovery will take place through online meetings and document reviews where necessary.

Developing your organisation's golden thread of data

Following the publication of more details by Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities regarding the Building Safety Bill and Golden Thread of Data, HACT we can provide support to ensure your strategy can be successfully and logically implemented across your organisation.

Your data becomes business as usual

The culture of being a data-led organisation is key to the success of your strategy. Ensuring individuals know the requirements in their area and developing skills across the organisation to ensure a consistent understanding is the difference in being data-drive. We can support with training and development to help you achieve this next level.

Digital and data services in action - Case Studies

Implementation with Greensquare Accord

HACT worked with Greensquare Accord following their merger to develop and implement processes for data to successfully merge the two organisations systems and processes and look forward to enhanced processes going forward.

Embedding a data strategy for Caledonia HA

HACT worked with Caledonia Housing Association to embed a data driven housing association across the whole organisation.

Building Safety

The investment the social housing sector is making into building safety is huge.

At the heart of that investment will be the Golden Thread of building safety, allowing everyone – from architect to surveyor, developer to resident – to have the same information about a building. The Golden Thread will provide social housing organisations with the information it needs to keep the building and people safe, now and in the future.

The UK Housing Data Standards will play a critical role in building safety, ensuring data consistency across every social housing building. The standards are available here, but HACT are best placed to help you in the successful implementation of the standards too.
