Mental health and housing: A strategic plan for integrating housing and mental health across Sussex

The Sussex Health and Care Partnership is a multi-agency partnership that serves a large and varied population of 1.7 milllion people. It is responsible for £4bn of health and care spending. As a new Integrated Care System, the Partnership has ambitious plans to transform the way health and care is delivered across Sussex.

To enable them to move forward with housing, health and social care integration, HACT developed their first mental health and housing strategy.

This strategy is ambitious in its scope and will become part of the roadmap the Partnership creates for future mental health services. The plan is focused predominantly on adults with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) who need support, excluding dementia. Across Sussex there are around 21,000 people aged 18-64 who are in contact with mental health services, with 14,000 on the SMI Register.
