Welcome and introduction

Bringing different experts and enablers into the same space to explore how the social housing sector can sustainably tackle fuel poverty, with the aim of driving forward different types of R&D activities that can address shared challenges.

Identifying residents in fuel poverty

Housing providers have a number of different tools at their disposal to identify fuel poverty. Improving understanding of the causes, signifiers and patterns of fuel poverty could help the sector to be more proactive in supporting residents.

Opportunities for funders to support projects to address fuel poverty

Focusing on energy efficiency measures and the funding challenge which accompanies this, this session explored energy efficiency and retrofit measures and the types of funding and sources of investment available to the sector

What is the role of housing associations in supporting behaviour change and can green technology help?

In the drive towards net zero, technology such as heat pumps can both tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon, if used effectively. Social landlords looking to install this technology need to consider how residents will be supported post-installation to achieve these benefits.

Addressing energy supply issues

The challenge is for housing providers to understand where they can have impact through advocacy and in sustainably playing a more direct role in the supply of energy to their residents, whilst keeping prices affordable.

A huge thank you to the event speakers for taking the time to share their knowledge, insight and learnings.

Have an idea or want to be involved?
