Now you can measure your impact on mental health

11/06/2018

HACT and Simetrica have developed a new mental health social value calculator that will help housing associations, charities, councils and contractors to measure their impact on improving their customers’ mental health.

The calculator is available to download from HACT’s web site (https://www.hact.org.uk/mental-health-social-value-calculator). It is free to housing associations and other organisations with turnover for non-commercial use.

The calculator builds on HACT’s pioneering work in social impact measurement, and is based on the Warwick Edinburgh Mental-Wellbeing Scale and wellbeing valuation. Funded by Golding Homes, Mitie and Wellbeing People, the calculator will help organisations to understand how to improve the positive impact they can have on mental health.

For further information about the calculator, please contact James Williams, Head of Value at HACT: james.williams@hact.org.uk.

Please note: this calculator should not be used with values from the UK Social Value Bank Calculator. If you use both this calculator and the UK Social Value Bank calculator to measure and value the impact of programmes, then you will be double counting.
This is because values in the UK Social Value Bank already incorporate the impact on mental well being: for instance, when someone gets a job, they are likely to have lower anxiety.
Organisations should either use the mental health social value calculator to measure mental health impact, or measure their outcomes with the UK Social Value Bank calculator.
