You can help us pioneer housing solutions for people on the margins
As a small national charity, our work would not be possible without the continued involvement of our valued supporters – charitable trusts and foundations, housing associations and individuals.
By supporting HACT, you can help to change the lives of thousands or people living on the margins – the old, the poor and the newly arrived.
Supporting our work is simple, easy and tax-efficient:
you can send your donation by post to HACT, Octavia House, 50 Banner Street, London, EC1Y 8ST (please make your cheque payable to ‘HACT’)
you can offer your time. We really benefit from the involvement of volunteers – whatever your area of expertise, we would like to hear from you!
if you work in an organisation, you can support us in a number of ways – by sponsoring events and publications, donating use of your meeting rooms or fundraising on our behalf!
If you would like to discuss the many ways you can support HACT, please contact us on +44 (0)20 7247 7800 or mail to: HACT@hact.org.uk
Your support will help people like Marion
Marion was a teacher in Zimbabwe, where many teachers are regarded as enemies of the state. Hundreds continue to be victims of harassment and intimidation, and are threatened with violence by supporters of Zanu-PF, President Robert Mugabe’s political party. Marion was no exception.
She was forced to take refuge and managed to escape. In 2004, she sought asylum in the UK.
She didn’t understand the system here. She was afraid to be sent back. The daily struggle destroyed her confidence.
Marion has been helped by HACT’s Reach In project. She now has a Charted Institute of Housing Level 3 award and a volunteer placement.
Reach In offered her the chance to restart her career and her life. She is hopeful for a future free from fear.
“At St Vincent’s,” she says, “for the first time since I’ve been in the UK, I feel useful and my mind is back. I have somewhere to put my energies. I feel welcome.”
