Future Assisted Living Technology

With an ageing population and severe pressures in adult social care and health funding, it is becoming increasingly necessary to explore how new technologies can support older people to stay in their homes and live successful lives. Housing providers are at the frontline of meeting these challenges and the sector requires technologies that are both low cost and robust and that can interface with their current resident support and data systems. So far the solutions and products that have been offered by the technology sector haven’t met the requirements of housing providers delivering supported housing.

HACT is building a consortium of housing providers to explore and accelerate the development of Assisted Living technology in the sector working with technology providers to ensure the needs of the sector are being built for.

There will be three phases of the project;

   1) Building the consortium, conducting research, producing a briefing paper of the sectors needs and publishing a call for solutions.

   2) Taking the brief to the technology sector through a series of events and workshops to identify suitable technologies.

   3) The project will culminate in a public pitching event to the sector at CIH Housing 2018 where the best solutions will be selected by the sector.

Following CIH, a technology partner will be selected and there will be an opportunity for product development.

We are currently recruiting for members of the consortium to join Hanover Housing on this project. Please see the full proposal here.
